Her Young Years

Hair of brown now lined with silver

Years of wisdom passed on

Gave her young years to her young one’s

And so her youth has gone.

But happiness and love only grew each day

For she had them and they have her

She may be growing older each year

But through her children, she will be young forever.

Love Years Ago

Love was supposed to come years ago

Love never did

Maybe it never will

Getting

Getting older,

Getting younger,

Getting fatter,

Getting slimmer,

Each year is different but one thing remains constant

And that is the fact that another year has been added to this life of mine.
I raise my glass to what has been given to me

May the years of getting older be years of getting wiser

I Am Older

No grey hair showing yet but I feel it starting now

I have been blessed with the years I have thus far

And greatful for what has become

Looking forward to growing older

Cheers to the years!

Will you be there to stand by me, will you stay?
When I become annoying and noisy,
Will you understand even when I can be a bit bossy?
When my hands have seen better days,
Will you still hold them anyway?
If my memory fades and I often forget,
Will you tell me our story so I may remember it?
When all else fails, when everything breaks,
Will you show our love is true and not one to fake?

Twenty Seventh

Getting older day by day
Hoping to get wiser too
Feeling trapped on childhood dreams
Trying to work on the plans and schemes

Time flies fast
Sometimes you’d like to slow it down
But I am grateful for the years given
Glad I got to be twenty seven

Onwards I go with the life I was blessed
To be happy, to be contented
This I confess is what I pray

Cheers to the years and more to come
I thank the heavens
As I toast to being twenty-seven

The Years

You’re tired bones crackle
Not as young as before
The years have not always been good and easy
But you look back,
With fondness
With happiness
Because the years had been fruitful
Not perfect
But the greatest there ever was

Little Black and White Dress

she dances in the night like the first night you saw her

she moved with grace despite,

imperfections

she was grand with eyes of deep light brown

a beauty beyond description,

recognition or belief

she took the dance floor and made it her own

her style is beyond years, beyond time

beyond Technicolor

beyond the black and white façade

she is timeless

elegant with simplicity

you know you’ll never forget this night

and the way she looks on that dress

To Be Twenty-Four

Twenty-four years ago, was nothing short of special

the world turned as it did like before

It was like any other day, in fact perhaps too casual

None may have noticed, except for two couples and their families

Twenty-four years has come by all too fast

she is now grown up and they reminisce the days when she was a child

How they wish those days could last

yet they knew growing up was part of it all

Twenty-four years and not a moment too soon

the clock spins and the calendar rolls

It’s already July, just past June

and a beginning of yet another chapter for her

Twenty-four years and perhaps twenty-four more

she wonders where she will be by then

she has so much planned and places to explore

She  knows her adventure continues even after twenty-four
