Write Along

Sometimes I write about sadness

Though it doesn’t mean I’m sad

At times I write about happiness

But it doesn’t necessarily mean I’m glad.

And then I write about heart aches

Of how the heart can bleed

It’s not entirely my own

I just let my pen lead.

And so the emotions pour

While I continue to write along.

Dear Santa

It’s a little early, I know

But letters do travel a little slow

And I wanted to make sure you received this on time

So I’m also trying to make this interesting by doing a rhyme.

I appreciate you giving gifts to kids all over the world

And doing it all in one night is quite bold

But for this year, could you please include

Not just the young but also the old.

Not toys, necessarily

As they only bring joy momentarily.

If you could please hug those whose hearts have been broken

Those who thought no opportunity for them would be open.

Hug the one’s who lost someone

To help remove the frown

And save the milk and the cookie

To those who are in poverty.

Spread your ‘Ho, Ho, Ho’ and merriment

To those who has lost hope, be their testament.

Thank you, Santa for helping out

I know you’re going to do great, without a doubt.

Sometimes I Write…

…About happiness

And then sometimes I want to write about sadness

Sometimes it’s a song about love

And then at times about heartbreak

Sometimes it’s about life and acknowledging the existence of death

Then sometimes I write about nothing

About no one

About myself

About others

About the world and the beauty it has despite the darkness it also holds

With all the sometimes, often I write with the aim not to please others

But just to bring joy

To Thee

Edgar wrote of Annabel Lee

Who lived in the kingdom by the sea.

I’d also like to write poetry

About my love to thee.

But feelings are hard to put into words.

How can I make it sweet like the chirping of the birds?

What sort of rhyme must I write

To let your emotions ignite?

Still, ideas escape me

Unlike Edgar who wrote about Annabel Lee.

My paper is still empty

And I still contemplate of that poetry

One that I’ll dedicate to thee.

Old School Love

Write me love letters on perfumed stationeries

Declare love and talk about our future like the visionaries.

Let’s talk face to face, not just a text or chat

Nothing gets better than that.

Let’s watch the sun set and rise and just keep silent

Take in the view and the moment.

Keep it slow, simple, like old school

Yes, that kind of love would be so cool.
