Never has the summer been
As hot as it is now,
If you go out it’ll hurt your skin
It might even scorch your brow.
Heat index at 50 degrees
That’s Celsius and not Fahrenheit,
But still wouldn’t you agree
That, that is hot alright!
Can’t get to the beach to cool off
Or to the mall for some cold air,
If only we could get out, just blastoff
And feel the wind in our hair.
I fix instead some cold drink
One glass, then two, then three
This will do for now, I think
Until again the heat makes me thirsty.
Sitting on the side of the boat
The sun, hot and cruel
I dip my feet on the water
Where it feels cool
My sunglasses on,
I looked up at the sky
Not a cloud in sight
I let out a little sigh
Not because I don’t like the view
But because none of it is true
I wish I was out there enjoying the sea
Swimming or floating along
But right now it’s important to stay at home
This is where I currently belong
Summer is here, yet inside I stay
Dreaming of the waves, the sand, and the salty air
Looking forward to the day when this is all over
Oh yes! To dream, I dare.
I feel at ease and calm
The sea, it helps me be calm.
Time is slower there and all worries are washed away
Sitting on the beach soaking the salty air makes it the best day!
My toes dig deep on the sand
This place couldn’t be more grand.
I take a dip and swim all the stress away
This is quite a nice getaway.
Dry spell happened even before summer truly began
It’s been hot and humid, to the heat I’m not a fan.
And now on recent days it’s been rainy and gloomy
It’s like a weird summer abnormality.
But to the cooler weather, I am not complaining
I wouldn’t complain even if it were raining.
I welcome this cooler summer while it lasts
As it won’t stay like this for long, according to the forecasts.
The ray of sun pierces through the window
The light’s reflection playfully bounces
Outside, the heat of the sun is scorching
Summer is creeping in
And in the summer, when gardens bloom
I recall the smile that captured my heart
I see the sky so clear
The sun shining bright and hot
I feel that here is where I belong
You will find me where the sun rises early
Where the waves whisper softly
Where the breeze is blowing
Where the sea is calling
It shines bright
It’s brighter than ever
But I’m stuck inside looking out
I can only wish that the sun keeps its brightness
Until I am able to play under it once more
