Tongue Tied

I want to tell you something

Tell you that your smile is captivating.

But how can I say this out loud?

I can’t handle this crowd.

I get nervous just being near you

I know that’s nothing new.

But I wish I didn’t stumble around you

I wish I knew what to do.

Still, everytime I try to convey what I feel inside

My words get lost, then I start to slur and get tongue tied.

So when you ask, I just smiled

Because I would rather be silent and hide

Than to try and speak and again get tongue tied.

And Then I Was Mum

I used to see beauty and color in everything

Used to hear music and the joy it brings

I talked about the lovely moon

The song of the stars and so on

.

But they shamed me

Shunned me

Condemned my poetic dreams

So all of a sudden and all at once, I became mum

.

Now in the silence, they reach out for me

But I am gone, nowhere to be

They will hear no more

I am mum from them, forever

Not Mine

He told me a story

One about love and humor

He smiled in a way I’ve never seen before

His eyes wide and excited

A thrill in his voice
He talked about love

But it was one not to be mine

Our Conversation

I looked in his eyes and saw reflections of me

Does he understand? Does he truly see?

What we could be

I and he.
I say I love him, I said it shamelessly

I feel light, I feel free

His eyes seem to smile happily.
His mouth parted as if he was about to say something

Then I woke up hearing my own heart breaking.

Your Eyes Tell

The eyes says it all

Window of one’s soul

Shows the real emotion

Shows no lie

Gives away many

And speaks louder when silence prevails

Dancing Conversation

He smiled knowing it would melt a thousand hearts
I realized I looked away slightly
Then slowly looked back up at him
A teasing smile
And I clumsily responded,
A decline to his invitation for a group movie date

His wide smile faded
A forced grin took place
And I know deep down he would have wanted my answer to be otherwise
Though it is more of a friendly tone,
His reaction to my decline made my heart skip a beat 🙂

Hold That Thought

Before you say a word
Let me say something
Hold your tongue and let me speak
Words come by so easily
Yet they leave a mark so deep
No I just wanted to let you know
Something I’ve always wanted to say
So hold that thought and let me speak
If only I could remember what it was I wanted to say

Thoughts Exactly

my thoughts exactly!

and since we have come to an accord

there’s nothing left to say

Take Flight

Criticisms come everyday

don’t let this get in your way

they’ll pull you down, but just take the shot

don’t back down and give it all you’ve got

go for the win, with all your might

you know you can do it, it’s time to take flight

It’s hard, I know

don’t hold the pain inside, let it show

you don’t have to pretend to be so strong

we all make mistakes, we can afford to be wrong

but at the end of the tunnel, there’s a light

spread your wings and take flight

Don’t listen to what others say about you

they just hate you for being true

you’re okay the way you are, you’re unique

be proud, be heard, time for you to speak

don’t be pushed around, stand up and fight

boost your self-confidence, go ahead and take flight

Challenges come and lessons are learned

you may be calloused but maturity you’ve earned

don’t be afraid to take the risk

changes come fast, quite a brisk

always remember to do what is right

and don’t be afraid to take flight

unbolt me
