Music Feeds The Soul

Oh I get emotional

I get teary-eyed

A rollercoaster ride of feelings

Sometimes I just can’t hide

I go up, I go down

I feel happy, I feel sad

I listen to the words

And often, I feel glad

It captivates me

It’s quite alluring

The wonderful sounds

Of soulful singing

Out At Sea

A lost soul out at sea
Searching for what could make her happy
She search on for days and years
Trying to rid herself of the tears
She battles storms
Her sails remain strong
She’s out at sea
Looking for a way to be free

I Dreamed I Died

And my soul left my body

I felt light

I was not scared

I saw the ocean as I went out the little house

A ray of light beaming down another place

And other souls I could see

I was happy, smiling and was ready

Incomparable bliss!

I walked within the clouds

And I was greeted by a bright light

A voice came

It asked, What have you done with your life?

Are you ready to enter heaven?

An answer I didn’t have

I tried to recall the last thing I did before dying

Then I was sent back to Earth

Perhaps I need to do more to be worthy

Or I still have something else to do before my time

Midnight Mr. Moon

Smile on me oh Mr. Moon!

I bask under your light

Shine upon this lonely soul

Secretly searching for love

The light of day

The day of light

Burns my very core

I need your soothing hands and smile

Come now Mr. Moon and shine!

I look upon you in earnest

To you I plea

Hear and heal this broken soul

By shining down your light

Show me that moonshine smile

That I may live fully again

My Restless Soul

I wander in this world

I have not been as faithful as I should have been

I live my life not minding where my soul will go

When time is up for me

I go on and I pretend

To be the faithful one

Yet I know that deep within

I am a sinful being and have neglected my religious duty

Yet God, the kind father that he is, still showers me His blessings

He still listens to me, hear my prayers

Despite me not taking much time to spend with Him

He sends His message through

He calls out to me and makes me feel loved

The kind of love no one else can give

My soul wanders through this world

And He waits for me to come back

To come home to Him at last

Spirits of the Dead

Thy soul shall find itself alone
‘Mid dark thoughts of the grey tomb-stone;
Not one, of all the crowd, to pry
Into thine hour of secrecy.

Be silent in that solitude,
Which is not loneliness- for then
The spirits of the dead, who stood
In life before thee, are again
In death around thee, and their will
Shall overshadow thee; be still.

The night, though clear, shall frown,
And the stars shall not look down
From their high thrones in the Heaven
With light like hope to mortals given,
But their red orbs, without beam,
To thy weariness shall seem
As a burning and a fever
Which would cling to thee for ever.

Now are thoughts thou shalt not banish,
Now are visions ne’er to vanish;
From thy spirit shall they pass
No more, like dew-drop from the grass.

The breeze, the breath of God, is still,
And the mist upon the hill
Shadowy, shadowy, yet unbroken,
Is a symbol and a token.
How it hangs upon the trees,
A mystery of mysteries!

-Edgar Allan Poe-
