For miles on end it stretched as it did

Everyone driving by

Passing by the scenery

Every single soul is in a hurry

No one slowing down

But just over yonder, near the countryside

Is a place of sanctuary
There the time is slow

Life is simpler

No busy buzzing from the asphalt gray

Just good old dirt from the earth

The end of the road

These Emotions

Hoping and waiting and at the same time complaining

Because I fail to understand my own emotions.

One hand holds the door, the other wants to stay

as if stuck to the floor.

Up and down I go

Again with this roller coaster ride

Just like so many moons ago.

Got to get my head in the game

Still feeling nervous, all the same.

Time to take flight and see where this goes

Where it will lead me, no one really knows

Where This Road Takes Me

Where the road takes me…I go

To unfamiliar places

Where whispers of strangers linger

And places unimaginable

I will follow the path as best as I can

Though fog may cloud it

Slowly and surely I will make my way through

Where this road will take me…I do not know

Nothing is certain or set in stone

But every bump, pot hole or even dead-end

I may encounter….

I know that I will make it to the end of the road

Down the Broken Road

down the broken road i walked

my eyes closed, afraid to see what lies ahead

a bolt of lightning

and the sound of rumbling thunder from afar

my faint heart trembled

and my knees shook

each step i took,

made the ground move

as if to crumble beneath my feet

now fear has enveloped me

consuming my soul

“should i press on?” i asked myself

“perhaps i should turn back”

and then i heard the roaring of a storm

i did not move

stood there frozen, shaking, trembling

afraid…oh! i was afraid

my eyes are still shut, i have not opened them

for what i heard and felt frightened me

to see it with my own eyes

would make me cower in fear

yet, curiosity got the better of me

and my eyes i opened

and what i saw was far more

than what i had imagined

the road that i was walking through,

was full of roses and tulips and gardenia

the grass so green with butterflies flying past me

up ahead was a cherry blossom

the beauty so lovely

i was in awe

there was no storm, no thunder

or lightning

the road was peaceful and the ground full of marbled stones

my troubled heart ceased and i felt at ease

there was nothing to worry

to begin with

i feared what i did not know

that is the lesson i learned

when i walked the broken road

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim

Because it was grassy and wanted wear,

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I marked the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

– Robert Frost
