From Afar

I loved him from afar

Tracing his features, drawing it in the air.

I took note of those gorgeous eyes that at one moment can be so calm

And the next, might spell trouble.

His natural smile and contagious laugh that instantly makes everything fine.

His hair, rugged or kept, makes him no less handsome.

.

And then there’s his voice

Smooth, soothing, calm, gentle.

Oh that voice!

I love the way he talks too.

Intelligent, friendly, sometimes awkward

But always a gentleman when he speaks.

Never wanting to hurt or say something bad to others.

.

He is the complete package as others would often say

For me, he is a man straight out of a romantic novel I’ve read sometime before.

And though I can only love him from afar,

I know this feeling is anything but fiction.

I seek the love I hope to be true

Or rather, I sought it before.

I used to think I was empty or just a half

I used to think I needed more.

.

Someone wanted to give me the world

But I only wanted him to be real and true

Extravagance was not what I wanted or needed

And so his heart I made blue.

.

I do not regret being alone, going solo

I’ve long accepted my complexities

I know it’s hard to love me

And they can only hold so much capacities.

Why The Star

I once loved the sun

But he only wanted to have fun

He didn’t care about my heart

And so I decided we should be apart

.

I once loved the moon

But he felt we were getting serious too soon

So he said a hurried goodbye

And I was left to cry

.

Then I knew the sky

And we both wanted to try

But the fit wasn’t all too well

So we both decided to say farewell

.

Then came the star

Who was patient in healing my scars

We both took our time

And slowly we started the climb

.

And so it was

Longing

I held him in my arms

Loving him truthfully.

I let him use his charms

As I reached out to him longingly.

The stars don’t fall far from the sky

The moon doesn’t eclipse the sun often

I drown on three feet of water

Knowing very well that he is

And will be

The love that I could never have

Hands

I remember…..

He was a tall man with a big built

He reminded me of a well built building

I was too young to know, what struggles he went through

In my father’s eyes he was the strict parent,

In mine he was a gentle giant.

I can’t remember if I hugged him enough

Or told him I loved him

But I have fond memories of him, no matter how few.

He didn’t speak much but he gave me boundless unspoken love.

He had big hands

Huge!

They were hard working hands

They were also the one’s that disciplined my dad

But those same hands guarded me and I remember they were rough but gentle.

Those hands, they guided me more than I ever would have thought.

Old School Love

Write me love letters on perfumed stationeries

Declare love and talk about our future like the visionaries.

Let’s talk face to face, not just a text or chat

Nothing gets better than that.

Let’s watch the sun set and rise and just keep silent

Take in the view and the moment.

Keep it slow, simple, like old school

Yes, that kind of love would be so cool.

How Can?

How can one love so blindly?

How can one ever give so much and get so little in return?

How can be the sweetest of words sound so bitter?

How can I love you unconditionally but you break me in return?

Dear Love

I’ve been down this road too many times

Echoes of the past are still lingering.

I broke hearts as a crime

My own broken too, and endangering

My self in the process.

Oh love it’s been quite a ride

To Hold You In Dreams

I close my eyes and I dream we’re dancing

You in my arms

A child, innocent and happy

Your smile fills my heart with warmth

Such joy to hear your laughter!

But then I wake

And I am alone

You are still miles away
