A friend of mine posted a photo of the super pink moon and captioned it, “I rise with the moon”. I thought that it would be a great title for a poem. So here goes…
The sun dips in the horizon while the moon is slowly rising
And with it my soul awakens.
The darkness stretches, as do I…
The world would have been blanketed by darkness except the moon was shining bright.
I shine my own smile back to the moon and together, hand in hand, we light up the night sky.
I sat at the dining room, working on overtime
I typed away to get the work done.
Then, a light came through from the outside
Illuminating the darkened space.
The sunlight coming through the window
And I thought, how beautiful it was.
The moon was big and bright yellow
And around it was a halo.
It kept a watchful eye on me, as I walked that early morning.
The half moon was shining bright yellow like a golden smile on the night sky.
I smiled inwardly, as the moon often does that to me.
Though not as bright as the moon that’s full,
The half moon still lighted the way for me.
I’ve always been in love with the moon
And it often reminds me that some changes can be beautiful.
Clouds were about, that early morning
Dawn hasn’t even cracked yet
It was supposedly dark but a single light shone
Pale yellow it was, and so I looked up
Floating up there was the moon
It didn’t shy away behind the clouds
Alone it was but proudly it gave some light
It accompanied me that cold early morning
Your eyes used to shine bright
But where is the shine now?
And you used to smile with such delight
But it left you somehow.
I wonder why you lost your spark,
I hope you find it again.
I pray you get out of the dark
Come back, let’s begin.
Gazing up in the sky, I saw a bright light.
It was beauty I cannot deny, it was such a wonderful sight.
Then the moon hid behind the clouds
As if playing hide and seek.
Misty clouds acting like shrouds
Making the moon look sexy and chic.
It was a sight to behold, it was a sight to see
A story that needed to be told, about the moon and its beauty.

We are stars in the galaxy
Each one truly far way from the other
Yet we let our light shine bright enough
So those we love dear can still see us
Take my hand so I can lead you to the dance floor
Spin me around
Hold me close
Hold my hand tight and don’t let go.
The ballroom glitters and shines
And suddenly the moonlight has lost is glow
As your eyes captures every single light and moment
Oh the stars are calling me tonight
To play and dance under their light
