Late

I woke up late

Which I like and never hate

No alarms and not in a hurry

Taking things slow, I don’t have to scurry

My lazy day

Doing it the lazy way

I wish I could wake late everyday

If only it was always Sunday

Running Late

Everyone is in a hurry, it seems

Daylight fading or running out of schemes.

They dress and doll up, attractive as can be

Gorgeous lips with wonderful locks for every man to see.

They try, they sell, they do cutie stuff and flirt around

All to be “taken”, taken where? Oh, just around.

They tell me I’m running behind, they all tell me to hurry up

No time to chit chat, no time to stop.
But I’m not running late

I’m not even running

There may be some disappointments, maybe some hate

But I’ll show them I can be stunning.

On my own.

Oh Late!

Got a lot of things in mind

Got a lot of things to do

I’ll never be able to finish it

Don’t know what to do

Is it too late to start now?

Perhaps I should just end it

Without even starting

Late Night

One late night as I was walking home

Crossing the street, I saw a gnome

It waved and it winked

I stood frozen then I blinked

Somehow, it was gone in an instant

I continued on and saw a giant

He danced on air and was so pliant

He said a simple “Hi”

Then went and waved goodbye

I thought that scene was quite odd

So I walked on, this time seeing a dwarf

It was pulling something towards the wharf

It stopped and looked at me

Smiled, laughed and seemed full of glee

On it went then leaving me behind, wondering

Now it was getting far too late

The time was well over eight

When I heard a pixie singing out of tune

Which at first sounded like a baboon

It sang a song for me then away it went

It was just such a bizarre night

I didn’t know whether to laugh or have a fright

One things for sure though

I will never walk home alone again,

When it is late at night

Late Night

I worked all day and slept all night

so many things to do

a troubled sleep does not help at all

it gives me a bad headache

and yet I stay up late at night

to wish upon a star

hoping that the man on the moon

would get back to Earth

someday

somehow

soon

because I forgot to tie my shoes

I forgot to tie my shoes

So I missed the bus

Because I missed the bus

I arrived late at school

Since I was late,

I was not able to pass my homework

As I was unable to pass my homework,

I did not get an A+

Because I did not get a good grade,

I did not become an honor student.

Since I was unable to be part of the honor roll

I did not get to be known at school

Since I was a great unknown,

No one voted for me to be class President.

I did not become class President

all because I forgot to tie my shoes.

Taking Time

moving slow, turtle paced, I’m in no hurry

just taking time

deep breath, take in the view, enjoy the moment

just taking time

I don’t look at the clock, I don’t ask what the time is, I’m taking things slowly

just taking time

no reason to hurry, no worries about being late, today I am relaxed

and just taking time

A Late Walk

When I go up through the mowing field,

The headless aftermath,

Smooth-laid like thatch with the heavy dew,

Half closes the garden path.

And when I come to the garden ground,

The whir of sober birds

Up from the tangle of withered weeds

Is sadder than any words

A tree beside the wall stands bare,

But a leaf that lingered brown,

Disturbed, I doubt not, by my thought,

Comes softly rattling down.

I end not far from my going forth

By picking the faded blue

Of the last remaining aster flower

To carry again to you.
