Stale

It’s Friday and I should be excited

But I’m up early instead of being asleep

Under the covers of my blanket

Keeping warm from the cold rain

I’m up preparing breakfast

Drinking coffee

Eating stale crackers

To fill my belly.

The warmth of the coffee comforts me

And the staleness of the crackers is somehow welcoming

Friday Song

It’s a Friday yet the song I play is for the ones feeling blue
I sing the song, but not because of you
Not because I feel sad or broken
Some words are better left unspoken
But that is not the reason, not at all
I still stand, proud, and tall
The song is just my flow
In a fast paced world, this helps me keep things slow

It’s Friday and I know I play the song for the brokens
But with this, I take away happiness as a token

Oh joy!
Oh happiness!
End of the week it is
Weekend is waiting and I can get cozy in bed

Momentous event to have finished the week
Yet, a bit of regret
Two days of rest means
Two days not seeing you
Weekends mean my week ends with you

But absence is supposed to make the heart go fonder
I hope it does to you
So that even when Monday makes you blue
May I be the reason for you to be joyous still

…and I think I still do
But if I look at the bright side of it
Monday means I get to see you
It means the start of my week with you
And then, Monday isn’t so blue

Fridays should be days not celebrated
Why?
Because it’s the end of the week, end of my week with you
But then on weekends though I’d miss you
It’s a great opportunity to be by my own
And a great way to look forward to seeing you again come Monday

So, Monday isn’t so bad
Because you help make it so good

White Fridays

He loves to wear white on Fridays
Not sure how it started
Somehow now he has planned it

I remembered when we both wore white at the same time
It was unplanned
It just happened
And after that I recalled
Wearing white again, hoping he does the same

Now white has become a favorite of mine
And Fridays too
For the sole reason that he seems to favor them too

When Monday Never Came

People were wondering what could have happened

For some strange reason, Monday never came.

Tuesday was present, jubilant as ever

Waving here and there, welcoming a wonderful day

“Good day! Good day!”, it just kept saying

Thursday was looking ’round

Surprised to see so many gathered

It didn’t stay long and left in a hurry

Shouting, “Friday’s almost here!”

Sunday peeped but changed its mind

Instead, out came Saturday looking a little dazed.

It walked slowly, talked slurred

Could not walk a straight line

It held a coffee mug on one hand

And merely smiled at the onlookers

Wednesday was grand,

he kept shaking people’s hand

It was as if he won the election

“Middle of the week!”, he exclaimed

“You’re almost there.”

Now, Sunday was shy so outgoing Friday came out with it

They held hands and stood in the middle of the crowd

“Where is Monday?”, the people asked

Sunday replied, “well, he always comes right after me, so he may be coming anytime soon.”

“He always comes before me, I’m sure he’s just around”, was Friday’s reply.

On and on the week came and went

But Monday was nowhere to be found

It was as if he disappeared or just didn’t make a sound

“Manic Monday will surely come”, the people kept on saying

But it would seem it won’t be anytime soon

As Monday never came
