Dear Santa

It’s a little early, I know

But letters do travel a little slow

And I wanted to make sure you received this on time

So I’m also trying to make this interesting by doing a rhyme.

I appreciate you giving gifts to kids all over the world

And doing it all in one night is quite bold

But for this year, could you please include

Not just the young but also the old.

Not toys, necessarily

As they only bring joy momentarily.

If you could please hug those whose hearts have been broken

Those who thought no opportunity for them would be open.

Hug the one’s who lost someone

To help remove the frown

And save the milk and the cookie

To those who are in poverty.

Spread your ‘Ho, Ho, Ho’ and merriment

To those who has lost hope, be their testament.

Thank you, Santa for helping out

I know you’re going to do great, without a doubt.

I found a letter addressed to me

I read it slowly and carefully

It said,

“Hey beautiful! Remember you are beautiful…

In every single way

No matter what you feel each day.

Do not let the scale’s number or the clothing size define you.

You are wonderful and beautiful despite what some other people might say…

Despite what you might say to yourself.

You’re not perfect but you are unique so stop trying to fit in.

Be you

Be bold yet simple

Be delicate but strong

Be your awesome you!

There will be people who will put you down.

Society will try to change you to fit the norm.

But remember, you are loved and should learn to love yourself.

Most of all, remember that I love you.”

The letter ended and it was signed by me.

Dear Edgar

Dear Edgar, how could you have felt so alone

when my heart you claimed your own?

Remember the happiest day you had,

in silence you sang a song of glad?

And do you remember the serenade for Annie you made?

it was simply beautiful, she was not dismayed

You dedicated to Helen and Elizabeth, each a poem

but none more beautiful than that of Annabel’s glum

Under the evening star, you went into a dream within a dream

where your mind was not your own and you screamed

You went to the city in the sea ; a place farther than fairyland

where the spirits of the dead, lay rest in the sand

Now you are among to one in paradise and to one departed

and so this poem to you I dedicated

In youth you have known one, in death many have known you

you continue to inspire and touch people who are both happy and blue

And may wherever you are, I pray in peace you rest
