The mountain before me is incredibly steep
I have to work hard and dig deep.
My climb is slow, my breathing heavy
Stopping myself a couple of times to keep myself steady.
One step at a time, one foot in front of the other
I’ll get to the top, one way or another.
So I go on, upwards and onwards!
I hit a dead end,
I stood there for a moment
Surveyed my surroundings
The brick wall stood massively in front of me
Many would have turned back
Others would have climbed it
Some may have tried to take it down
Others may have built a door
I simply walked around it
All the miles I ran
I thought at first I couldn’t
Buy ended up saying, “I can”.
I looked at the behemoth before me
Fear crept inside, swelling
But I ended up trying, you see.
I ran up the mountain, stumbled, fell then got up
Bruises on my elbows and knees
But I didn’t stop.
It felt time was running out or maybe it was rushing in
I took a step forward
And all over again I started to begin.
Do not despair
Challenges are opportunities if you learn the lessons
It can get tough
Most often it seems best to quit
But the view can only be seen if you climb the mountain
So hold on and stay strong
If not, stronger
and jump over walls
I leap the tallest buildings
and put myself back together when I am in pieces
I am not the strongest
But I overcome obstacles, big or bigger
I scrape my knee
I beg for it to end
But I face it all
In the end
I stand at the grandest view ever
