Haven’t

I haven’t forgotten about you

I haven’t forgotten your smile,

Precious and alluring.

I haven’t forgotten your laugh

Or your voice that’s powerful and soothing.

I try to replace all the traces of you

But I haven’t the slightest clue

No idea what to do.

Lonesome Prince

Your eyes used to shine bright

But where is the shine now?

And you used to smile with such delight

But it left you somehow.

I wonder why you lost your spark,

I hope you find it again.

I pray you get out of the dark

Come back, let’s begin.

Together

A mere mortal am I

In love with you, one who has god-like qualities.

Looks are not all I like, although it does add some interest

But you’re eloquence,

your charm,

your grace,

your being a gentle man,

your wit and love for reading

Is what captivated me the most.

How can one man be almost perfect?

Almost perfect because you lack half your heart

But I,

Yes, I!

I can make your heart whole

And we would be perfect together.

Conquered

He defeated me

Pull down all my defenses

Left me wondering how it happened

Surprised me with all unexpectedness

If there is such a word.

.

I pulled all the tricks up my sleeve

He smiled through all of it

As if it was a walk in the park.

.

Brick by brick he tore my walls down

But still made me feel safe

He conquered all the hurdles

And appeared unharmed

Despite his hands bleeding just to get through to me.

Sweet Prince

Sweet, sweet prince

I pour my heart to thee

The moonlight shines bright

As the evening calls to me.

.

I sing a love song

Hoping you would hear

The longings of this maiden

And that to me you’d come near.

.

I’m giving it all

Won’t you hear my call?

The stars above

Have heard my song of love

I dedicate to you and you alone

Oh sweet prince, won’t you make me your own.

Slowly Understanding Tom

It took a while for me to warm up to Tom

I couldn’t see the point of it all

Why almost everyone was in awe with him

Why they liked him at all.

He was easy on the eyes

But not someone I was attracted to immediately

I nodded as they said how handsome he is

Although I didn’t think so, but then that was just me.

Then for some reason I dreamt of him

As if my brain was trying to tell me something

That one dream changed it all

And out of nowhere, I felt everything.

I couldn’t shake the thought of him

I couldn’t get him out of my mind

So I slowly tried to know the man

To see what I can find.

I found out he was kind and polite

That when he gave you his attention, he listens and remembers

That he’s a real gentleman and a wide reader

And he loves the feel of December.

He had faults, he isn’t perfect

And he doesn’t try to be or pretend to be

He can be a charmer when he wants to

And silent when sad, much like me.

He’s the guy you’d be proud to introduce to your dad and mom

Yes, that’s him…. That’s Tom.

I didn’t fall for him, not at first

I admired the man, that’s the truth

And slowly I understood

Why people liked Tom so much.
