What Do You Miss?

I miss hugging the people that are close to me. Right now, we have to keep our distance.

Even a simple high five has to be avoided.

Once normalcy returns, would you please give me a hug?

Hello earthlings! How’s quarantine (For those placed on quarantine)? Here in Cebu, Philippines, we are now on Enhanced Community Quarantine. Good thing I still get to work from home so I don’t have to worry about going to and from work.

How are things where you are? What do you miss?

Stuck Together

Let’s get stuck together from afar

Let’s do our morning routine a bit differently

Let’s stay indoors and enjoy the moment

Let’s do our part to keep each other safe

The World Stood Still

The world stood still, didn’t it?

It grew quiter

Cleaner

It turned slower too

Maybe it’s trying to heal itself

Hello Out There

On the inside looking out. Loving their freedom and energy. Sometimes I crave it. But also fear it.

“Put yourself out there”, they would say. I automatically think of being put on display for everyone to scrutinize, to look at. But I don’t want attention. I just want to be seen, heard. There’s a difference.

So, despite the fear I took the step and opened the door. Doing my best to be ready to take on the unknown.

Everyday Struggle

It blares

It buzzes

It rings

Oh! The sound that tells you to end your sleep.

Why must I part with my bed and pillows?

Oh yes, bills don’t pay on their own, unfortunately

So reluctantly I get up and ‘start the day’

End of the Day

I took a cup of sunset and sipped it like coffee
Taking in the days labor and now feeling sleepy.
A pillow to keep company and to rest my tired head
Off to dreamland I go as I lay still in bed.

Uncertainty

A path that once was clear, is now covered in fog

The solid ground is now a bog

Sorrow

Today is filled with sorrow

While also uncertain of tomorrow.

Still looking at the brighter side

Although the sorrow I cannot hide.

Slaves of Time

Living life at the sound of the alarm clock

Waiting for it to go

I don’t think that’s how it’s supposed to be

But then I find myself asking

Until when?

Until when do we have to be slaves of time?

Look Back

Let me look back and tell you of my fond memories

My memories of my childhood

When things were simple and fun despite most of it not going all too well.

Let me tell you of how the old days were

Of how there were more trees than skyscrapers

Of how fresher the air was.

I look back having remembered some of the things that happened during the war

How we hid

How we heard the bombings while huddled and hidden.

I remember my teenage years

The dances, the friends and even some of the funny stories

I remember my teachers and look back being thankful for them.

I look back hoping you’d share my excitement too

One day, you too will be looking back on your life

And I hope you remember me when you do.
