Color of Morning

Hues of orange splash the sky

Splattered like magnificent painting greeting the early commuters off to work

I sigh a little as I saw only a glimpse of it

I wanted to pause the moment before the busy day and just bask in awe under it

The sun showing its glow but not quite the full show

I take a photo of it in my mind and I smile inwardly thinking how beautiful the day will be

Faded

An old photo from long ago

Has caused the faces to be faded

But the memories they rush quickly

Flooding like they never left.

A note from some years long gone

The letters are faded now

But the emotions it held are still quite visible

Clearer than when they were written.

And he has faded far into the background of my past

Not forgotten but slowly fading.

I found a letter addressed to me

I read it slowly and carefully

It said,

“Hey beautiful! Remember you are beautiful…

In every single way

No matter what you feel each day.

Do not let the scale’s number or the clothing size define you.

You are wonderful and beautiful despite what some other people might say…

Despite what you might say to yourself.

You’re not perfect but you are unique so stop trying to fit in.

Be you

Be bold yet simple

Be delicate but strong

Be your awesome you!

There will be people who will put you down.

Society will try to change you to fit the norm.

But remember, you are loved and should learn to love yourself.

Most of all, remember that I love you.”

The letter ended and it was signed by me.

Salty Hair, Sandy Feet

Salty hair, sandy feet

Listen to your heart beat

Beating with the flow of the waves

Look at the way it misbehaves.

The seashells beautify the shore

They let your worries disappear, they are no more.

Bury your feet on the sand

This simple life, isn’t it grand?

Salty hair and sandy feet

This life is simple but complete.

Retired

I stayed out late until it was pitch dark,

I sat on the grass, reclining on the tree bark.

The noise of the city

Fading in the distance slowly.

I bask under the glow and beauty of the sunset,

I take in the view while listening to the House Sparrow’s duet.

I stretch my arms and legs, grateful for this moment

Looking forward to more days like this on my retirement.

The Sea Is My Home

I feel at ease and calm

The sea, it helps me becalm.

Time is slower there and all worries are washed away

Sitting on the beach soaking the salty air makes it the best day!

My toes dig deep on the sand

This place couldn’t be more grand.

I take a dip and swim all the stress away

This is quite a nice getaway.

I Hide

I hide behind fake laughter

I hide behind half meant smiles

I hide my self esteem

Tuck it all away never knowing when it will be put to use.

I hide my scars

I hide my incompetencies

I hide everything that is wrong with me because society only wants perfection.

I hide sadness

I hide struggles

No one wants to deal with that.

I hide myself until I’m no more,

Hidden and wasting away.

Old And Gray

Most people may not believe when I say

That I want to grow old with hair of silvery gray.

Wrinkles may not make me look fair

But that’s something I really don’t care.

I see wrinkles as proof of the life I’ve lived and the struggles I’ve overcome

Proof I did my best, I didn’t give up, didn’t succumb.

My wrinkly skin would serve as maps of my adventures

And perhaps, as well as my misadventures.

Oh to be old with hair of silvery gray,

To reach that age, is what I pray.

The Sun Is Set

I look up and I see up ahead

The sun is burning brightly orange and red

A hint of purple and blue

Yes, I see those colors too.

Beyond the horizon, the sun is leaving

But its beauty still radiating

Cooler breeze is now blowing

As the sun is slowly setting.

Rabbit Hole

Down I go

Spinning

Spiralling

Tumbling

Falling

With no idea of what lies ahead, this will be an adventure.
