And Now I’m Broken

For the visually challenged reader, this image shows a person holding a piece of broken mirror in which their face is partially reflected.

This is written in response to Sadje’s What Do You See #134

Vanity has given me a comfortable life
Images of my beauty could be seen almost everywhere
I was a familiar face
I was well known

However, no one saw my strife
I struggled alone, no one was aware
I was then replaced
And now, I'm well worn

This broken mirror in my hand
Reflects my broken life
A life that used to be so grand
Now holding on from the edge of a knife
A face that was once pretty
Now aged with time
This is the curse of my beauty
The end of my prime
