Dear Santa

It’s a little early, I know

But letters do travel a little slow

And I wanted to make sure you received this on time

So I’m also trying to make this interesting by doing a rhyme.

I appreciate you giving gifts to kids all over the world

And doing it all in one night is quite bold

But for this year, could you please include

Not just the young but also the old.

Not toys, necessarily

As they only bring joy momentarily.

If you could please hug those whose hearts have been broken

Those who thought no opportunity for them would be open.

Hug the one’s who lost someone

To help remove the frown

And save the milk and the cookie

To those who are in poverty.

Spread your ‘Ho, Ho, Ho’ and merriment

To those who has lost hope, be their testament.

Thank you, Santa for helping out

I know you’re going to do great, without a doubt.

Unsure of Myself

Sometimes I feel pretty

Sometimes I feel ugh

Rarely do I feel sexy

Often I just need a hug.

At times I ooze confidence

Mostly I just shy away

I kind of like my bit of independence

But not all days are good like today.

I look in the mirror and often say, “meh”

But everyday I’m learning to love my ordinary face until I say, “oh yeah”.

In Search of a Pen

A pen, a pen, oh! I searched for a pen!

But I found none

Not one that worked at all.

I needed to write it down

Needed to write again

But how could I when no pen was in sight?

The paper lay waiting

Hoping I could find a pen, so I may write on it.

Traffic and Waiting

Standing in line

Waiting for oblivion

Ages it would seem before I get out of here

The standing

The waiting

As everyone else seem to go by

This is me

Waiting for a jeepney

Allowed

You’re allowed to be lazy

You’re allowed to take time

You’re allowed to think of yourself first

Or be selfish every once in a while.

You’re allowed to find the calm and hide from the chaos

You’re allowed some alone time

Or simply just lie back and do nothing.

You are allowed to slow down

To simply take time for yourself.

Cursed

Luscious vile a maiden bore,

A downright curse within the core.

Yet chance to change that stray the path

Love shall triumph that singe such wrath.

For that of dreams does not come true,

She knows the pain that must endure.

All that left remain from start,

Of a vile and twisted, wicked heart.

The poem is not my own writing. I came by chance of it from reading one of the comments of this YouTube video titled “Cursed – 2D Animated Short”. I am not sure of the title of the poem but since it was on that video, I figured to just have that as the title.

The video was enjoyable. As I often do, I scroll down the comments section. That’s when I found this poem posted by username Cedric Scorch. Link below for the YouTube video.

It was the end of the week

It was the end of the work month

My spirit was high but I didn’t feel like working.

.

I was in a good mood

Listened to some good tunes

I wasn’t feeling down but I didn’t feel like working.

.

I hummed along to a good beat

Last song syndrome on my mind and on repeat

My menstruation was done but I just didn’t feel like working.

.

The hours crept by and then the end of the day

My heart sang with glee as I hopped my way out of the office

Finally!
