Like Balloons

Like balloons I am colourful outside

But sensitive and fragile inside.

Playful, captivating, alluring

Also intelligent, insensitive, and all too caring.

Like balloons, I can be fun

Yet I can also be glum.

I burst and pop out joy

And also suddenly deflate and be annoyed.

I can be a pop of red or a subtle green

But also be blue and gray and in between.

I can be as put together like a bouquet,

But also, like balloons I often float away.

I found a letter addressed to me

I read it slowly and carefully

It said,

“Hey beautiful! Remember you are beautiful…

In every single way

No matter what you feel each day.

Do not let the scale’s number or the clothing size define you.

You are wonderful and beautiful despite what some other people might say…

Despite what you might say to yourself.

You’re not perfect but you are unique so stop trying to fit in.

Be you

Be bold yet simple

Be delicate but strong

Be your awesome you!

There will be people who will put you down.

Society will try to change you to fit the norm.

But remember, you are loved and should learn to love yourself.

Most of all, remember that I love you.”

The letter ended and it was signed by me.

Slow Down

Take time for yourself

Breathe like it’s your first time

Feel the breeze and enjoy it

Take it slow

It’s okay to do nothing

On Deaf Ears

An echo into the void

I am just an echo.

No one sees, no one hears the haunting fears.

I scream!

But it’s all in my head

I am broken

The pieces are too small to put back together.

I’ve held on for as long as I could

But the void, it keeps growing

And this!

Whatever THIS is, it’s harrowing.

I call for help but it seems

It has fallen on deaf ears

And I am left to fend for myself as the void slowly consumes me.

Dark And Bitter

Why so bitter?

Why so dark?

So they splash a little milk or creamer to add a bit of colour

But that just ruins it, doesn’t it?

The aroma, the realness, the pureness

That’s what it’s all about.

So no, I say no to the sweetness of sugar

And no the any creaminess

You see,

I like it dark and bitter.

——————————-

Ever since trying intermittent fasting, I’ve been into dark coffee. Been used to creamer and sugar that it took quite a while for me to get used to the pure bitterness of it. Now, I can’t get enough of it and prefer coffee as it is. How do you like your coffee? Or are you more a tea person?

Not All Girls

Not all girls have curvy body

Not all girls are tall

Not all girls are sexy slim

Most girls don’t have it all.

.

Not all girls are unruly but also

Not all girls are prim and proper

Not all girls like frilly things

Not all girls are makeup lovers.

.

Not all girls receive equal opportunity

Not all girls have their voices heard

But some girls are rising up now

And will not be deterred.

To Be Continued

I fell in love with you but you didn’t

So that was an opportunity we both lost.

You fell in love with someone,

I got hurt and bruised.

Eventually I moved on and so did you,

But you broke that person’s heart because you found someone new.

Soon after your new love moved on without you

And we lost touch,

I didn’t dare ask how you have been doing

For fear you might think I’m still hoping for so much.

Our paths once crossed but it seems it will never again

You and I, we try to avoid each other it seems.

Our story ends here

Or it may be a to be continued when we’re different people in a different life.
