Bugnaw (Cold)

Ang kabugnaw sa hangin

Nga mi dampi sa akong aping,

Walay sama sa kabugnaw

Sa imong kasing-kasing.

The cold wind

That brushes upon my face

Is nothing compared

To the coldness of your heart.

Scraped

I scraped my knee again.

Mom is going to be angry.

She’s going to count to ten

So I’ll enter the house, ending my play abruptly.

.

My knee already hurts but she’ll still scold me.

I’ll get banished to my room like Rapunzel trapped in the tower.

She’ll ground me indefinitely

Though I don’t know what that means.

All I know is that it would be more than an hour.

.

So instead of telling mom that I scraped my knee

I’ll keep this a secret and just wash the wound completely.

Mom doesn’t need to know so I can continue playing.

That sounds like a good plan, that’s all I’m saying.

Tongue Tied

I want to tell you something

Tell you that your smile is captivating.

But how can I say this out loud?

I can’t handle this crowd.

I get nervous just being near you

I know that’s nothing new.

But I wish I didn’t stumble around you

I wish I knew what to do.

Still, everytime I try to convey what I feel inside

My words get lost, then I start to slur and get tongue tied.

So when you ask, I just smiled

Because I would rather be silent and hide

Than to try and speak and again get tongue tied.

Defeated

Down and lost

You feel like quitting.

I see your pain, though you hide it.

Yet even in moments when everyone lost hope on you

You persevere

Move on

And learn.

Every moment of sadness

You reach for that glimpse of glory.

You are the best when you are defeated

Because it is in those moments, you show that you can still shine.

Cold Coffee

My coffee has gone cold waiting for me.

In this cold morning, my coffee is colder still.

Much like your cold heart

Who left me lying on the cold floor

With my heart held in my cold hands.

And yet, I still drink my bitter cold coffee

As I toast the cold morning air

Remembering that from your coldness

I learned to embrace the warmth of my own sunshine.

Flatline

And when I saw you

You left me in awe

Speechless

Breathless

My heart ran off

They tried to resuscitate me

But I have flatlined just from the sight of you

Surrender

I put my hands up

I raise it high

I’m letting go

I’m letting it all fall according to Your will

I surrender

Replacement

She swept you away like a tide

Swallowed you whole

You held your breath for her

Because for you,

She was worth it.

.

She was the most stunning rainbow you’ve ever seen

The loveliest rose in the garden.

But you broke her too

Replaced her with someone new

Kind of like how you replaced me…

…with her.

Get Out

I’m in that place…of worry and woe again

I need to get of here

Help me get out of here

Burst Out

My love for you is slowly revealing

Head to toe, floor to ceiling

Each day it grows

Each moment it shows

Until it bursts out of me
