Pizza My Heart

Pizza my heart and leave a slice for love

Top it with salami and a kiss for luck

Hold out and toss the dough,

Be sure to catch the fall or it would leave

my heart, broken to pieces

Don’t forget the mushrooms of promises

Garnished with onions, bell peppers and happiness

Extra cheese to make sure it sticks and for added flavor

Then leave it in the oven, enough to cook

the sadness out and keep the freshness

of admiration in

Divide evenly with a side of content

To enjoy a hearty relationship

Keep It In My Pocket

I saw you smile and decided

that I should keep it in my pocket

Just in case I need them for the days you’re not around

I did the same with the butterfly

so I could keep it safe

The sunshine, the rainbow and the sunrise

With the tulips and the morning dew

I kept them all in my pocket

like I do all things that I treasure

I wonder what I’ll find if I check your pocket….

I’m Through

I’m through with love and what comes with it

I’m done, I give up, I don’t want a single bit

I’m done with the cheeky, cliché love notes

I’ll get out of here, onboard the misery boats

I’m through with cupid with his stupid bow

I’m throwing in the towel and ending the show

I don’t want any more, just get it over with

I’m through, I’m through

Believe me, I’m through!

Word Addiction

I want to stop but I am drawn in everytime

I keep coming back for more

hungrier, thirstier with each come back

They come around when I least expect it

falling invisibly from the sky to my noggin

My fingers type away and

I’m in autopilot

I get this feeling, a sensation

a high that I can’t describe

I’d like to stop, but the words just keep on coming

Touched By An Angel

We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love’s light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.

coffee over tea, the milk and the honey bee

enjoying freedom of your own

the roses are redder, the tulips are sweeter

the young pursue the world

that first breath of fresh air, incomparable

a smile from a face in the crowd

a helping hand from a stranger

the blue sky opens possibility so great

then there’s a baby’s sigh, tiny innocence

child’s laughter over a new guitar

great things come in small packages

and are always free

so here’s one I’ll share

for you and me

I dreamed of dragons and their lovely wings

They hover for a moment then gone in an instant

just to appear suddenly, once more

Dragons with their big bulgy eyes

breathing water instead of fire

Brown or greenish when they are young

Then colorful as adults

I use to chase them and they land on my fingers

Now they’re gone or are in hiding

Poor creatures

Driven to extinction

Slowly they become no more

Small and mighty were they

Tonight I’ll dream of dragons and imagine

them dancing with the fireflies

As the crickets play the maracas under a moonless sky

Like A Teen Once More

Why do I light up when I see you?

A smile I try to hide

Lately it’s been obvious, the way you stop and stare

The way you’d say “hello” or “hi”

I just know what it means

Though I can’t help but still doubt

If the way I read the signs is right

I can’t help but think I’m right

Crossing fingers, and hope that I am

Our greetings are now more frequent than before

Although not quite there yet

But this is better than before

I feel the butterflies again

I know it sounds a little cliché

a bit childish as well

But you’ve made me feel like

a teenager once again

Like you’re my first crush

Like I have not been on this ride before

The end may not be

As sweet as I would think it would be

None of it matters though

The journey I surely enjoyed

She Is

I wish I could be as strong as she is

See, she is a fighter

and I? A mere weakling

She has real courage

as tough as a rock yet kind-hearted and forgiving

I could never be like her even if I tried

She is irreplaceable

One in a billion

She is mom
